Anstruther Sea View
The refurbishment of this Category B listed building in the Anstruther Conservation Area aimed to restore its historical integrity while enhancing original features. We planned a careful renovation, including exposing hidden elements, reinstating traditional materials, and adding a modest rear roof extension.Simpson and Brown Heritage Consultants assessed the building's historic significance, noting its pre-18th century masonry and mid-18th century joinery. Despite some previous structural alterations, the property's overall significance within East Neuk of Fife remained intact.
Britton Street
Located in the Clerkenwell conservation area this building has been transformed with a new facade and full internal refurbishment. The 1980’s facade was a black spot in the historic street and has been replaced with a Peterson brick and oak window facade, to compliment the range of brick types and window styles in the area. The new design increases the natural light into the building by over 25%.
Cairn Art Gallery
Formerly a stable for miniature ponies, this outbuilding in the coastal town of Pittenweem has recently served as a private art space, going by the name of Cairn Gallery. The renovation sought to enhance the many qualities the existing space holds. Our proposal includes simple and minimalistic design moves to achieve this.
Cairngorms Agricultural Building
A remote agricultural building in the Cairngorms, sat in a beautiful rural setting with views out to the rolling hills. The building is essentially a store with 600mm thick stone walls and a slate roof that can be re-used.
Craigtoun Events Space
Set within the natural beauty of Craigtoun Park, our proposal envisions a new multi-use community space designed to support education and a wide range of local initiatives. The concept centres around flexibility - creating a welcoming and adaptable environment that serves the diverse needs of community groups, schools, volunteers, and events.
Cellardyke Shore Street
This project involves the sensitive refurbishment and extension of a Category C listed home within a Conservation Area, tailored for a growing family of musicians. Key aims include celebrating the historic rear stone wall - especially its curved stairwell - by introducing a glazed slot that highlights its full height, while enhancing connectivity to the garden.
Cellardyke Copper Extension
A copper-clad residential extension in the East Neuk Conservation Area was inspired by the rich colours of the coastal rocks revealed at low tide. The cladding complements the existing sandstone and anchors the design in its seaside context.
Dawsons Local Soho
Our client, NME, sought to update their existing shopfront on the bustling Denmark Street in London. The design proposal retained the existing black colour to in keep with our client’s branding. A larger fascia sign with white vinyl was installed above the existing shopfront glazing to allow for better visibility to the shop inside. A smaller fascia sign was installed below the existing to enhance our clients brand identity on the street. Furthermore, additional glazing bars enhanced the existing character of the shopfront.
Eden View
The location of this project benefits from fantastic view across the River Eden and North Sea coastline – views which were bizarrely obscured because the only window looked in the other direction! We proposed a new corner window to maximise the view and added a window seat to allow our clients to really enjoy it.
Exmouth House
The transformation of Exmouth House in Clerkenwell into a vibrant media style office building. The £2m project at 3-11 Pine Street involved the upgrade and refreshment of the common parts of the building, utilising a series of sprayed graffiti murals, graphic signage, bold colour and dramatic neon lighting in various ‘hot spots’ around the building.
