Ben Fraser, Architectural Assistant
Ben joins the team on his Part 1 placement from the University of Dundee, where he achieved a BArch with Distinction. Upon completion of Ben’s first three years studying architecture, he has developed a strong conceptual and systematic approach to his design work where he aspires to create inclusive and respectful architecture. Ben’s close attention to detail compliments his hard work-ethic to achieve the highest of standards. His willingness to learn and can-do approach allows him to venture out of his comfort zone to meet the needs of a project.
Ben is especially interested in architecture that has a real connection to its place. He aims to achieve an architecture that is both different and familiar to its local environment which can express itself in a language of its own time without directing neglect toward its context. Ben studied the James-Simon-Galerie by David Chipperfield in his third-year thesis, ‘The Temple of Modernity’, researching how the building was contextually integrated into a historical and pivotal site for the evolution of its place.
During his time with us at RKA, Ben is eager to continue his learning journey and is looking forward to being involved on site and working in a team environment.
