Andrew McKay, Architectural Assistant

Andrew - RKA Architects - St Andrews

Andrew obtained his Master’s of Architecture at The University of Dundee and is currently gaining experience in preparation for his part 3 studies. Andrew previously worked at RKA during his year out gaining invaluable experience before he returned to complete his studies.

Through university Andrew developed a keen interest in conservation and regenerative design, eventually exploring these themes through his master’s thesis. The thesis explored the fragility, memory, and obsolescence of listed buildings and how this relates to the decay of Dundee’s Hilltown. He believes there is huge importance between the interconnectivity of people and the spaces we inhabit – connecting people to buildings and buildings to place.

Upon his return, Andrew has taken on an active site inspection role and enjoys speaking to the contractors and clients directly.
