Artist studio with sea view

Our clients are artists and musicians. The site has the most amazing harbour and sea views. A dream brief…. The challenge being how do you connect a new art gallery to the back of a listed façade on a steeply sloping site….

Our design solution works with the topography and links into the central core of the house , access via the half landing to the gallery armature that bridges over the lower floor and then below ground before reaching the light and the studio space. The levels are such that the studio looks over the roof of the house and out to sea.
Clad in Corten steel to pick up the deep orange colour of the pan tile roof the additions are proudly  contemporary against the historic building.
