- We start with a conversation. We question every aspect of the brief to ensure we are delivering the right solution.
- We consult our in-house Sustainbility Team to ensure the project considers it’s enviromental impact
- We design with pencil and tracing paper and develop all designs in 3D CAD.
- We work with the industry leading tool – Revit, to ensure our designs are co-ordinated with the full design team.
- We work with the best collaborators. The best projects can only be successful with a highly skilled team pulling together

RKA and Sustainability
The built environment (both building sites and buildings energy use) contributes the largest portion of carbon of all sectors, more than both travel and industry.
Here at RKA we are focussed on improving our impact by encouraging ourselves and our clients toward more sustainable choices. This can be through low carbon or natural materials, or by reducing the energy needed to run the building.
With a dedicated sustainability team, eco-conscious decisions are woven into every design. Each solution is crafted, bespoke to the project, ensuring it best suits the client, brief and budget.
To encourage all projects to consider more sustainable choices, we created targets to work toward, which follow a Bronze, Silver, Gold format.
Projects are assessed against the percentage of low-carbon materials used (such as recycled or naturally sourced), the number of renewables proposed (such as Air Source Heat Pump or Solar Panels), as well as the thermal performance of the building (how well insulated it is).
This allows us to compare all projects, big and small, commercial and residential, whether they are brand new or a renovation.
